Acton

ActonActon - great location - excellent transport links - good schools - more competitive in price than the surrounding areas of Richmond, Kew and Chiswick. Acton may lack the obvious trappings of its neighbours, but in terms of property, you get so much more for your money here.

It is popular with families relocating to the UK as the International, Greek and Japanese schools are here and the transport links in and out of London via the Piccadilly Line are rapid. There are numerous parks and many sporting facilities including state of the art health clubs and a huge multiplex cinema and bowling alley.

Barnes

BarnesThere is no doubt that Barnes is very special. Nestling, as it does, in a bend in the River Thames, it is full of wonderful Victorian and Edwardian properties which have been imaginatively refurbished to a high standard by caring owners.

Combine this with the extensive green areas of Barnes Common with its picturesque pond and the stunning acres of the world famous Wetlands, a haven for wild fowl, and you undoubtedly have an ideal place to live.

Excellent cuisine offered by well-known restauranteurs makes Barnes a food writers paradise, although you will see little mention of this in the papers - they want to keep the restaurants to themselves! There is full range of shops and cafes in the village providing for all needs.

The commute to central London is fast and access to Heathrow easy. No wonder so many well known politicians and actors of the stage and screen choose to live in this charming area.

Brentford

BrentfordBrentford is a place where change is in the air. So close to Richmond and Chiswick and equidistant between Central London and Heathrow Airport, it is bizarre that only recently the developers have noticed Brentford.

There are numerous high quality buildings both houses and apartments which have sprung up over the last few years transforming the area. In addition, the waterfront of the River Thames looking across to The Royal Botanic Gardens of Kew has been carefully built upon and there are outstanding views for those fortunate enough to live on the banks of the river or the Grand Union Canal.

The local shops provide for all your everyday needs and the Waterman's Art Centre has a cinema showing classic films, a theatre and many hobby areas for children of all ages.

Chiswick

ChiswickBe trendy! Live in Chiswick, home to many household names. Cosmopolitan yet relaxed. Stroll along Turnham Green Terrace on a Saturday morning and visit the best butcher, deli and wet fish shops in London.

 

Then relax and read the papers in a bistro or pavement café. Well serviced with numerous smart and casual restaurants, excellent schools, open parks and historic houses.

Easy access to Central London and Heathrow Airport. You will surely have a memorable experience if you choose to live in such a varied and interesting locality.

Ealing

EalingEaling has easy access to both to central London and Heathrow Airport. Transport links are superb with three railway stations operating both the underground and main line rail networks and excellent motorway links.

There are many open spaces including Ealing Common with its horse-riding academy. Education in the area is well catered for and includes the International, Greek and Japanese Schools. The range of properties is very wide and includes large Victorian villas as well as brand new apartment blocks and quaint cottages. There is a huge multiplex cinema and a thriving theatre as well as a covered shopping mall.

It is perhaps best known for the famous Ealing studios. Until the 1950s films such as 'Passport to Pimlico' were made there, and currently they turn out blockbusters such as 'Notting Hill' and 'Star Wars'.

East Sheen

East SheenEast Sheen is the number one choice for many people who relocate to London and many families with young children pay a premium to live here because of the excellent local schools.

Developed mainly in the first half of the 20th century, the family houses are substantial with large gardens and are very comfortable and beautifully adapted to living in the 21st century.

There is also an abundance of high quality apartments and flats, and shopping needs are taken care of in the extensive High Street. Transport links are good and access to the adjoining centre of Richmond is easy.

Richmond Park is close by with its herds of red and fallow deer, horse-riding, sports facilities and acres of open space ideal for walking, cycling and flying kites!

East Twickenham and St. Margarets

East TwickenhamJust across Richmond Bridge one is immediately in East Twickenham which leads directly to St. Margarets. You therefore have the advantage of leaving the hustle and bustle of central Richmond but being very close to all the amenities it offers, while St. Margarets South West Trains Station is only a stone's throw away.

The north bank of the River Thames ambles along the boundary of St. Margarets and leads to the beautiful Marble Hill Park which is close by with tennis and golf putting facilities.

In addition, the historic Marble Hill House built by King George II in the 1720s for one of his mistresses is open for viewing by the general public on a regular basis.

Annual outdoor symphony concerts which take place at this venue are extremely popular and very well supported. A good place to live.

Kew

KewIt is undoubtedly a privilege to live in Kew. Cross over Kew Bridge from the busy motorway and there is an immediate calming atmosphere with the beautiful green on either side and St Anne's church prominent. A stone's throw away is the main entrance to the outstanding World Heritage Site, The Royal Botanic Gardens.

Georgian cottages and beautiful old Victorian houses circle the Green and there is an abundance of residential property in quiet secluded roads.

There are excellent local schools, both state and private, and a good choice of nurseries. Kew village with its quaint, yet useful shops and the underground and main line stations with speedy services to central London are close by.

You can dine well in the area with two internationally known top class restaurants and many others offering Greek, Chinese, Thai, Indian, French and Italian food, not forgetting good old English fish & chips.

Mortlake

MortlakeMortlake is tucked between Barnes, East Sheen and Kew and has a character all its own, but at the same time enjoying the benefits of the adjoining locations.

It is on the banks of the river Thames and there are therefore opportunities to rent properties in the many architect designed apartments which cluster along the waters edge with stunning river views. In addition there are many attractive and well converted Victorian properties which make comfortable and substantial family homes.

Mortlake Station has frequent trains to Central London. It is within easy reach of Richmond Park, commons and open spaces and is therefore an area which attracts many people looking for an interesting and affordable place to live.

The famous university boat race between Oxford and Cambridge finishes here and many riverside dwellers will find themselves hosting an annual party!

Petersham

PetershamThe journey from Richmond to Petersham takes a few minutes but immediately transports you to the English countryside - a view that has captivated many. It is within easy reach of both Kingston and Richmond with their extensive and exciting shopping facilities, and quick rail services into Central London.

Education is well served and the excellent German school is here.

Towards Ham there is a good selection of local shops and Ham Common leads directly to the extensive acres of Richmond Park with its herds of red and fallow deer.

A popular residence to many household names, its properties vary from substantial family homes to cottages. A historic part of London in which to live. The well known Petersham Hotel presides over the area and even the local garden centre has an award winning café and tearoom!

Richmond

RichmondPeople who choose to live in Richmond are clearly connoisseurs. What a wonderful feeling to be surrounded by history - the remains of Henry VII's Palace of Shene and Maids of Honour Row properties (now beautifully restored) are on Richmond Green and the River Thames is a focal point for all in the area.

The town centre is vibrant, full of interesting shops and coffee houses. A short distance away past outstanding residential properties is the entrance to Richmond Park with its rolling acres and herds of deer.

Richmond caters for all ages - excellent schools, sports clubs and fitness centres. It is a short commute (15 minutes to Waterloo station) using main line trains to London the underground is also available.

There are restaurants, boutiques, cinemas and two local theatres with pre West End runs and much more. It is impossible to find enough superlatives to describe Richmond. People who live here find it very difficult to leave. Some don't - Queen Elizabeth 1st died here!

Teddington and Strawberry Hill

TeddingtonOn the edge of the famous Bushy Park, a former royal hunting ground, and by the River Thames, Teddington and Strawberry Hill have a unique character.

Teddington was mainly a rural area until the mid nineteenth century and the arrival of the railway, and consequently the majority of the properties date from then.

There is a good selection of large Victorian and Edwardian houses as well as smaller two bedroom cottages. Full advantage has been taken of the river frontage with some fantastic new developments with views over the river towards Richmond Park.

The area is ideal for families as the local schools have an excellent reputation and there are plenty of open spaces and rivers walks. There are trendy shops and restaurants and the larger towns of Richmond and Kingston with their more comprehensive shopping facilities are close by.

Travel connections to both Central London and Heathrow Airport are very speedy. It is the ideal location for those who which to have a peaceful and restful environment in which to live and at the same time be within easy reach of the metropolis.
